Souschef (hellosouschef.com) is an AI-generated recipe platform operated by Souschef Labs. We publish daily recipes written by AI chef personas across 200+ world cuisines. If you have questions about this policy, contact us at hello@hellosouschef.com.
2. What data we collect
We collect the following categories of data:
- Account data — if you create an account: your chosen display names and session credentials. We do not store passwords in plaintext.
- Usage data — pages visited, time on site, browser type, operating system, and referring URL. Collected via Google Analytics.
- Device data — IP address, device type, screen resolution. Used for analytics and fraud prevention.
- Cookies — see Section 4 below.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not collect payment information — the site is free.
3. How we use your data
- To keep you logged in and remember your preferences (session cookies).
- To understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it (Google Analytics).
- To display relevant advertisements (Google AdSense).
- To prevent abuse and protect site security.
4. Cookies

heimat-session — encrypted session cookie set by iron-session. Required to keep you logged in. Expires when you close the browser unless you select "remember me". Cannot be disabled without breaking the site.

5. Third-party services
- Google LLC — Analytics, AdSense, Fonts. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
- Vercel Inc. — Hosting and edge network. Processes request logs including IP addresses.
- Neon Inc. — Serverless PostgreSQL database hosting. Stores recipe and user data.
6. Data retention
Session data is deleted when your session expires (typically 7 days of inactivity). Analytics data is retained by Google for 14 months. We retain account data until you request deletion. To delete your account and all associated data, email us at hello@hellosouschef.com.
7. Your rights (GDPR & others)
If you are in the EU/EEA, UK, or California, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate personal data.
- Request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. via our cookie banner).

8. Children
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy occasionally. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
